Social Web search engine Zakta increases search efficiency
Cincinnati, OH- January 26, 2010– Zakta, a personal and social-networking Web search engine, has secured a $430,000 seed-stage investment from CincyTech and several private investors.
Founded by Sundar Kadayam, Blue Ash-based Zakta makes Internet searches easier by letting users edit, save, and share search results with their community for collaboration, feedback, and insights.
“Why aren’t search results meaningfully organized? Why can’t users control, delete, and re-order search results? Why do searches have to start from scratch every time?” Kadayam said. “Why can’t people connect with others who have searched for the same topic, to benefit from what they know?
“These are all questions we and many others have asked that helped us create Zakta.”
www.Zakta.com is the first tool to incorporate search technologies with automatic categorization, semantics, personalization, social media, and social networking to create a program that is more comprehensive and responsive to individual preferences than traditional Web searches, according to Kadayam. Users cannot only edit, tag, annotate and save their results but also tag and share results with others through a social Zakta Guide to build knowledge and increase search efficiency.
Kadayam, founder and CEO of Zakta, has more than 23 years of experience in the software industry. As co-founder and chief technology officer of Intelliseek, he was involved in shaping the business, product, and technology management strategies. His work in search-engine space includes BullsEye, InvisibleWeb.com, ProFusion.com, Enterprise Search Server (ESS), and BlogPulse.com services.
“2010 promises to be an exciting and fulfilling year,” says Kadayam. “We are thrilled to receive the support of CincyTech and other investors at this stage of growth for Zakta.”
Zakta is CincyTech’s 12th portfolio company.
CincyTech executive-in-residence Mike Venerable says the company is a strong addition to CincyTech’s portfolio because of its tremendous growth potential.
“Zakta has an experienced technical team with great knowledge of the search-engine industry pursuing both consumer and commercial application of a unique search engine.”
